As part of NELA's home based services, trained voulounteers & staff provide nutritional & psychosocial support to people living with HIV, orphans, vulnerable children and affected families. Community based activities such as: discussion groups, provide support to the affected & infected people and raise awareness of stigmatization & discrimination. Nela has trained and supported community outreach workers to work with particularly vulnerable populations such as youth, sex workers & PLWA's. NELA also runs a short stay care center that provides basic primary health services for PLWA's that need hospital care but can't access it due to stigma & discrimination. A support group within its center provides psychosocial support.
NELA provides technical & financial support; training & mentoring to non-governmental & faith based organizations, to help them deliver quality HIV/AIDS services.
